Barcelona Tech City opens a social meeting space for the digital and technological ecosystem

Urban Tech Campus Project

Barcelona, June 5, 2019.- Barcelona Tech City, a non-profit member association that brings together more than 800 companies and startups from the digital and technological sphere of Barcelona, has announced the incorporation of a new space as part of its strategy to build a technological urban campus.

Located in El Palauet Living Barcelona -an old modernist palace situated in the central area of Passeig de Gràcia- and converted into an accommodation with a particular international focus, the Association will turn it into a meeting point for the local and international ecosystem enrolled at Barcelona Tech City.

With this differential project within the sector, the Association aims to bring the energy and spirit from Pier01 to a different space where the different tech and digital stakeholders from the city will be reunited in a relaxed atmosphere.

This new location will encourage the interaction of technology with topics such as art, sports, culture, critical thinking, literature or gastronomy and will be addressed to people linked to the ecosystem of Barcelona and especially to the Association. Outreach activities, exhibitions and afterworks will be held in this venue to promote the interrelation of technology and the business sphere with different areas of knowledge.

The Palauet, a building designed by Pere Falqués in 1906, is a renowned gemm of modernist architecture located in the heart of Barcelona. The palace has six rooms for events, some of them with a capacity of up to 200 people distributed over three floors. The Association together with different organizations will carry out a program of activities that boost the ecosystem.

“Through this new project we do not want just to pull together remarkable entrepreneurs, but also newcomers, investors and other agents from the ecosystem, both local and international, and having a meeting point in which they can liaise with different topics from a particular approach and in a different environment than usual. At the same time, we want this space to be a point of transversal thought that fosters and inspires new ideas and new initiatives”, says Miquel Martí, CEO of Barcelona Tech City.

The Palauet is the last addition to the technological urban Campus that Barcelona Tech City is setting up across the city. This endeavor embraces the Pier01 hub and also the brand-newPier03 , headquarters of the recent Blockchain Hub and Civic Tech House. The venue, currently available for the celebration of events, will be fully operational as a social club level within the upcoming weeks.
